I suppose there are various 'in jokes' here that the students would have understood, but now lost in the fog of time. Two things we can explain. The little figure in the top-right of the drawing hiding behind the signpost is estate owner Mrs Bambridge shaking her walking stick in disapproval. The car and trailer at top centre is Mr Wicksteed's remarkable 1926 Austin 12, which did everything from hauling the college boats to giving trailer rides to children on college Open Days disguised as a pirate ship or steam locomotive (the car, not the children).
